Why isn’t Hometown Fest held over Labor Day weekend this year?

For over twenty years, Boulder Creek Events produced the Boulder Creek Festival over Memorial Day weekend. We coined this event “the kick-off to summer in Boulder County” and decided we needed a bookend event to close out the summer event season over Labor Day weekend. In 2019, the City of Boulder declined to renew our contract to produce the BCF, and after 22 years BCE no longer produces our namesake event. With no kick-off event at the beginning of summer, we no longer felt the need to have a bookend event at the end of summer; we have also heard countless times over the years that there is simply too much going on in this region over Labor Day weekend (other festivals and events, concerts, etc.) so we decided to host the event two weekends earlier this year, when there is less competition. We’ll see how it goes and go from there!

How can I become a volunteer for Hometown Fest?
